Salary Information
Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
- A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and the Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations
Nature of Work
This is a functional job class performing a wide-rangeof general and specialized clerical procedures designed to assist departmentsin completing specific department functions.Work procedures include but not limited to general office duties such astyping various forms, reports, documentation, ordering supplies, organizingoffice filing systems, assisting in functions such as payroll and budget,handling cash drawers, office inventory, answering phones and / or basicbookkeeping. Work in this class is notalways repetitive and may be cyclical in nature. Employees may exercise some judgment anddecision making within the defined functions they support. Employees in this class perform workrequiring general office procedures as well as specific knowledge and abilitiesrequired by the department in terms of how it functions and personnel theysupport. Employees in this class maysupervise or lead lower level clerical / assistant employees. Mostpositions support supervisors or managers in more specific duties in larger ormore broad-based duties in smaller divisions or departments.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of basic clericalexperience which demonstrates knowledge of general office functions (answeringphones, filing, typing, greeting customers). A technical certification inOffice Administration or closely related area may substitute for one year ofexperience. Experience must indicatetyping skill required for general clerical work. NOTE : Two (2) years’ experience as an Administrative Support Associate will qualifyfor this position. NOTE : Qualifying education, training andexperience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities toperform the job will be considered.
