Data Analyst Key Responsibilities
Analyze, design, test, and implement data changes for regulatory and compliance submissions, including premium / loss reports, special audits, and market conduct exams.
Review and clarify business requirements, provide work effort estimates, and develop detailed functional and system specifications using SDLC methodologies.
Create accurate data mapping and transformation specifications to support regulatory reporting and discretionary projects.
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and perform unit, integration, user, and performance testing to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
Collaborate with development teams to support all SDLC phases, including query optimization and use case development.
Oversee assigned submissions and reports, ensuring timely delivery, accurate balancing, and resolution of internal / external inquiries.
Support audits, market conduct exams, and production validation processes with thorough documentation and tracking.
Evolve into a lead role, managing projects, resources, and driving team efforts to meet compliance objectives. Required Skills and Qualifications Data Analysis and Reporting (50%)
5-8 years of software development experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Strong expertise in querying relational databases (e.g., DB2, SQL Server) and writing SQL queries for analysis, testing, and developer support.
Proficiency in data mapping, transformation, and structured analysis to support regulatory reporting requirements.
Experience using SDLC methodologies, including project planning, estimation, and documentation. Leadership and Collaboration (50%)
Ability to lead, direct, and motivate team members while managing multiple concurrent projects.
Strong organizational, analytical, and technical skills with a focus on attention to detail and quality.
Effective oral and written communication skills to collaborate with internal / external partners and build strong relationships.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction and drive efforts to meet project deadlines. Additional Considerations
Knowledge of the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry and statutory / compliance-related reporting is a plus.
Prior supervisory experience and proficiency with MS Office suite are highly valued.
Exposure to cloud technologies (e.g., AWS) and experience with DB2 or SQL Server databases are advantageous.
The ability to think innovatively and propose improvements to existing processes is highly desired.
