The ideal candidate will bring strong technical acumen, leadership skills, and extensive experience in mission-critical environments. You will oversee all aspects of engineering design, guide project teams, interface with stakeholders, and ensure best practices are upheld in quality, performance, and compliance across the project lifecycle.

This opportunity is working directly with a leading mission-critical data center developer / wholesale provider. This company provides turnkey data center solutions for High Performance Computing (HPC) to custom-fit to the requirements of their client's ever-changing mission-critical facility’s operational needs. They accomplish this by providing reliability of mission-critical facilities for many of the world's largest organizations (Hyperscale and Enterprise Customers). This opportunity provides a career-growth minded role with exciting projects with leading-edge technology and innovation as well as competitive salaries and benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage engineering design projects for small to large scale data centers, focusing on electrical and mechanical systems (UPS, switchgear, chillers, CRAHs, generators, liquid cooling, etc.)
  • Direct the development, review, and maintenance of design contracts, specifications, and standards
  • Develop greenfield data center concepts including electrical system designs, HVAC and cooling loads, and perform power system analysis
  • Mentor and guide engineers and subject matter experts / SME's, providing strategic and technical leadership
  • Manage engineering schedules and project timelines to ensure timely delivery
  • Facilitate the design process, mitigate risks, and ensure alignment with standards, codes, and client requirements
  • Provide constructability reviews and cost/schedule feedback throughout design and construction
  • Collaborate with business development, product, QA/QC, commissioning, construction, and operations teams to ensure cross-functional alignment
  • Lead design-related change management, tracking RFIs, change requests, and ensuring resolution
  • Support site startup, testing, commissioning, and turnover processes; represent design during factory witness testing and operational handover
  • Develop and enforce engineering best practices, QA/QC standards, and compliance measures
  • Conduct lessons learned reviews and incorporate feedback into design standards
  • Drive design improvement and resiliency efforts using system risk analysis and power monitoring data

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree or PE/EIT license a plus
  • 7-15+ years of experience in data center engineering, with 3+ years in a leadership or managerial capacity
  • Previous experience at an MEP Consulting, A/E, or engineering firm is a must
  • Deep understanding of critical MEP infrastructure, operational handover, and commissioning processes
  • Experience with hyperscale and colocation data center design and construction
  • Familiarity with NEC, building codes, industry standards, and data center best practices
  • Strong proficiency in engineering tools and platforms: AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, MATLAB, MS Office Suite, etc.
  • Skilled in root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and operations documentation development
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Military veterans with technical experience in electrical/mechanical systems highly encouraged to apply (e.g., Navy nukes, Seabees, Army Power Generation, Air Force Power Production, etc.)
