Located in beautiful Orange County, CA, Chapman University, a highly ranked, private, coeducational R2 institution, seeks a creative, seasoned, and progressive leader and scholar to serve as the dean of the Schmid College of Science and Technology. Reporting to the executive vice president and provost, the dean will provide leadership to, and advocate for, the college’s academic programs, centers, and research. The incoming dean will be an established scholar and academic leader who understands the future of science, technology, and mathematics research and education. The dean will work with faculty, staff, and others to continue to enhance Schmid College’s visibility, reputation, and ranking; grow the college’s research portfolio and extramural and grant funding; work collaboratively with the Rinker Health Science Campus and Fowler School of Engineering; and ensure that all Schmid students have access to excellent educational and research opportunities as well as career and professional advising and support. The dean serves as an integral member of the provost’s leadership team and will partner with the deans across Chapman University, fostering collaboration and championing academic excellence.

Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a dynamic, energetic, and engaged scholar with a demonstrated record of leadership, collaboration, creativity, and advocacy. The dean must be a seasoned and nimble administrator, an accomplished scholar, a dedicated faculty mentor, a thoughtful colleague, and a true advocate for student learning and development. The dean will have the disposition to nurture and enhance industry partnerships, cross-school engagement, and collaboration, and the knowledge base to champion progressive and advanced approaches to science and technology instruction. Further, the dean will demonstrate the experience needed to foster and support continued growth and expansion of Schmid’s research profile and funding.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $330,000 – 360,000 with a generous benefits package designed to support physical, mental, and financial wellness.
