The Dean of Students Office provides leadership and strategic direction across a broad range of administrative practices, policies, and services to enrich graduate student experience and promote students’ academic and professional success. The Associate Dean of Students reports to the Dean of Students and is a member of the Dean of Students senior leadership team.
Job Summary
The job manages a team of professional staff responsible for developing strategies, policies, and procedures for admissions, recruitment, or both. Manages recruiting efforts by monitoring the interview and applicant evaluation process; will also support admissions efforts by reviewing applicants selected for admission.
Reporting to the Dean of Students of the Division of the Social Sciences, the Associate Dean of Students for Admissions and Data Reporting is responsible for the managing the admissions and financial aid awarding process for the ten PhD programs and four MA programs in the Division of the Social Sciences, overseeing the application record system, creating and implementing the annual budget and aid model for the MA programs, and providing guidance to faculty and departmental administrators to ensure divisional compliance with institutional and federal policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Associate Dean of Students for Admissions and Data Reporting also leads all data reporting projects for the Dean of Students Office, including an annual analysis Social Sciences MA Programs Application and Enrollment Trends.
Responsibilities
- Leads the annual process to review and update applications and review processes and works with UChicagoGRAD and the Office of Legal Counsel to ensure compliance with institutional and federal policies.
- Creates and implements the admissions and financial aid model for divisional MA programs to meet revenue goals.
- Partners with the College on admissions to joint degree programs (including BA / MA and 4+1) and advises students on the application process.
- Oversees the division's certificate and non-degree programs, from creation and institutional review through the admissions and enrollment phase.
- Maintains relationships with all organizations and individuals involved in the admissions process.
- Leads data reporting projects within the Dean of Students Office, especially as relates to admissions and enrollment outcomes and trends.
- Analyzes data to make recommendations to ensure divisional goals are met.
- Presents data and analyses, in both text and visual formats, to varied constituencies, including divisional leadership, faculty and staff in degree programs in the division, institutional stakeholders, and external audiences.
- Leads and manages a team of individuals responsible for Admissions and Enrollment, ensuring seamless operations, strategic alignment, and compliance.
- Identifies and implements technological solutions to improve operating efficiencies and assure veracity of data gathering.
- Represents the division in university committees related to admissions and enrollment.
- Develops and monitors the admissions budget.
- Implements best practices and stays informed on all aspects of admissions and enrollment compliance matters.
- Manages divisional projects and initiatives, in-whole, in-part, and in collaboration with, partner offices relating to admissions and enrollment.
- Develops operational plans to develop and execute admissions strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Manages the planning and implementation of public presentations, special events, and other recruitment activities.
- Performs other related work as needed.
