Position Summary
Lead the Dean of Students Office, inclusive of Student Advising, Student Affairs, and Student Life, and partner with the Dean’s Office and the faculty to support the Gallatin student experience and student success. Train and lead the professional staff to partner with students to map out individually tailored academic programs that match their individual interests, aptitudes, needs, and goals. Work in coordination with key Gallatin and University offices. Preside at, and participate in, a range of School ceremonies and events. Lead the School’s Retention and Graduation Task Force, and identify and implement best practices to support student success. Provide strategic oversight on Gallatin and University-wide academic initiatives that enhance the student experience for all Gallatin students, with a special focus on vulnerable or at-risk students. Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of overall policies, practices, and procedures; plan and manage budgets; supervise staff.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Terminal Degree
Preferred Education:
Ph.D.
Required Experience:
10+ years; Progressively responsible senior administrative level experience developing and managing the implementation of student services strategy to a diverse student body at the college or university level, or equivalent experience. Must include experience in teaching in a classroom setting, and advising and/or counseling in a student affairs or related area. Must also include experience with policy development, staff supervision, and budget development and oversight.
Preferred Experience:
10+ years; Senior level experience in an academic environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proven leadership, problem solving, strategic planning, and analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively using consensus building and affect change to meet organizational goals. Proven ability to develop and implement programs with measurable results. Ability to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously and within designated deadlines. Proficiency with standard office software including the Microsoft Office and Google Suites, and Adobe.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience developing and implementing comprehensive student services and academic administration agendas at a global institution.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $177,000.00 to USD $227,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
