We are presently searching for a Designer for our Los Angeles studio. The Designer, working under general supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, presentations, concept design through design development, and contract documents.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Works with team to develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and/ or adaptive projects
- Works with team to develop design ideas and create both presentation and construction drawings
- Drafts technical drawings
- For smaller projects may oversee all design and drawings
- Provide review of engineering and landscape drawings to ensure they comply with design solution.
- With Senior Designer, researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projects
- Ensures integration into overall design
- Preliminary concept plans for larger projects
- May develop and finalize conceptual design for smaller projects
- Oversees Intermediate Designer to review space plans and tackles more complicated issues
- Provides detail for interior and architectural design projects
- Develops and delivers overall design and furniture packages for both interior and exterior
- Assists in developing packages for larger projects
- Obtains cost estimates and produces final cost estimates
- Manages design budget for assigned projects
- May mentor the work of Junior and Intermediate Designers
Qualifications:
- Graduate of architecture or design school: equivalent experience may be substituted
- 6+ years’ experience in workplace design, focusing on building repositioning and adaptive re-use projects as well as corporate interiors
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of design principles, workplace trends and aesthetics
- Extensive knowledge of repositioning and adaptive reuse projects
- Advanced presentation skills
- Advanced knowledge of space planning
- Extensive knowledge of furnishings and finishes
- Extensive with the concepts of furniture layout
- Advanced sketching and rendering skills
- Advanced architecture detailing skills
- Extensive knowledge of CDs and procedures
- Extensive knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirements
- Working knowledge of path of travel requirements
- Working knowledge of contract administration
- Intermediate MS Office Suite skills
- Advanced Revit skills
- Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills
Salary Range: 70,000 - 85,000 based on education, licensing and relevant industry experience.
