About the Position
Are you an accomplished detective with extensive experience working on sex assault cases? Do you love gathering facts and collecting evidence? Then apply to be our SAKI Detective!
This position will work with other MCAO Detectives, a Sexual Assault Kit Initiative Analyst, a SAKI Victim Advocate, and a Program Coordinator to assist law enforcement agencies with solving cold case sexual assaults and bringing them forward for prosecution.

We Require
Five years of full-time law enforcement experience
Three years of sex crimes investigative experience in a full-time plainclothes investigative assignment, or equivalent, with a Federal, State, County, or municipal law enforcement agency
High School diploma or GED
Other Requirements
The applicant must be certified by the State of Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) as a full authority Peace Officer at the time of appointment OR qualify for Arizona Peace Officer certification within 30 days of appointment
The Appointing Authority does not provide police academy training to qualify applicants for the Arizona Peace Officer certification for this position
Applicants must submit to a pre-employment polygraph exam, a post-offer psychological examination, and physical / drug screening
Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire
The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background investigation of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement

Experience investigating sexually involved crimes (sexual assault, sexually motivated homicide, etc.); specifically involving adult victims
Job Contributions
Conduct interviews of victims / witnesses in criminal cases
Locate witnesses and documents information and evidentiary items
Compose extensive reports, memos, and other correspondence using a computer
Serve criminal subpoenas, legal processes, and / or documents as required
Maintain AZ peace officer certification requirements in accordance with AZPOST Admin Code R-13-4-111 for all sworn positions
Meet with attorneys and assist in the preparation of cases for trial
Testify in court as required
Perform advanced, specialized, or original criminal investigations that may involve undercover or covert responsibilities, search warrants, and arrests
Communicate with and assist law enforcement agencies regarding sexual assault investigations within Maricopa County / State of Arizona / Nationwide
Review of criminal investigations involving partially tested evidence for outsourced lab testing
Develop and present sexual assault-related training for diverse audiences
Working Conditions
Office and enclosed areas in a fast-paced environment with frequent stressful situations
May require long periods of sitting while completing paperwork, standing, and moving about during the course of performing duties
Ability to travel to and from various county locations for court appearances, investigations, meetings, and trainings, utilizing personal or county-owned vehicles
From time to time, must be available to travel out-of-state for a couple of days for investigative purposes
Ability to move up to 20 pounds
