Job Summary
GateWay Community College is now hiring a great new role! This position coordinates the development of career programs, job search resources and career readiness strategies for students.
Essential Functions
30% - Develops and organizes graduate and student placement resources; updates job postings; shares employment leads; updates and / or maintains websites and other centrally available documentation and information, as assigned; Counsels and trains students and graduates on job search strategies, as assigned
25% - Provides support to vocational training instructors and students; assists with creating workshop and training materials, conducting training and providing assistance to participants; Implements career services and career readiness activities for students and graduates; tracks success rates
20% - Participates in economic development organizations; facilitates meetings; works with business and industry to establish employment, internship and externship opportunities for students; researches, collects, assembles and reviews labor market data; performs preliminary analysis
15% - Composes original documents, brochures, reports, issue papers, process / procedural instructions and / or presentations from original research; performs coordination and oversight for an assigned portion of a larger program, project or process; researches industry standards, trends, best practices and emerging technologies and makes recommendations for implementation
5% - Plans, organizes, and assigns the work of staff if serving as a lead worker; plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of staff if assigned supervision. Participates in hiring, discipline and termination activities if assigned to supervision
5% - Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in business administration, education or related field and one (1) year of experience in workforce training, vocational training and / or economic development.
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
A. Two (2) or more years of professional experience working in career services, workforce development or talent acquisition.
B. One (1) year experience in a career counseling / advising or employment assistance-related role working with a diverse population of students and / or community members.
C. Experience utilizing a computer and relevant software applications; operating a proprietary customer relation management (CRM) system or student management software (SIS), Excel, and Word to document calls and manage participant databases.
D. One or more years experience working and collaborating with faculty, staff, and / or industry partners managing complex projects
E. Experience developing and delivering group presentations
