Overview

UW Credit Union is adding a new DevOps Engineer III position to our IT Software Engineering team to play a pivotal role in delivering a diverse portfolio of technical solutions, designed to support employee interactions with members and internal departments.

In this role, you will support and empower our development team in delivering high-quality software efficiently and effectively. You will leverage cutting-edge technologies and security practices to automate builds, execute tests, deploy to environments, and monitor application health. Additionally, you will lead the administration and monitoring of our hybrid hosting infrastructure and continuous delivery pipeline while providing valuable technical recommendations. This position operates within an Agile environment, actively participating in team activities that support our iterative development process.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of critical tasks, including but not limited to :

  • Collaborate in planning efforts to re-platform applications in Azure.
  • Manage sizing and capacity considerations for the Azure environment.
  • Implement enhanced monitoring solutions for applications under your control, ensuring rapid issue identification and resolution for optimal performance and uptime.
  • Strategically determine which blocks or groups of applications and databases should move together.
  • Spearhead the development of a robust CI / CD pipeline, with potential inclusion of a feature flag framework.
  • Streamline deployment processes to limit security permissions on developers while granting specific permissions to system users during deployments.
  • Contribute to the development of the Integration Platform / Services Layer, fostering seamless integration of systems and services.
  • Collaborate in identifying opportunities for refactoring at both the application and database layers, enhancing overall system efficiency.
  • Assist in the adoption of "database as code" approaches, promoting consistency, reliability, and scalability in database management.
  • Implement task automation strategies to streamline repetitive tasks.
  • Utilize version control systems to minimize human errors and configuration issues, ensuring more stable and reliable software deployments.

Qualifications

What You’ll Need to Succeed

These skills and experiences are essential to your success :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements
  • 5+ years of DevOps or equivalent software engineering experience
  • Expert knowledge of automated build, testing and deployment tools and software development tools and technologies
  • Proficient in one or more scripting languages
  • Fluent in one or more query languages
  • Version control systems experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • These attributes and knowledge are preferred but not required :

  • Experience working with or exposure to the following tools : AzureAzure DevOps (ADO)TerraformElasticsearch, KibanaGrafanaOpsGenieC# / .NETMicrosoft IIS (Internet Information Services)PowerShellPython
