SUMMARY
As directed, leads and coordinates the daily support operations of an imaging Mammography department. Provides technical oversight and supervision to imaging technologists. Responsibilities may include technical oversight, appointment schedules, patient flow, reception, and area ambiance. Ensures that work unit meets performance standards and identifies and recommends solutions to operational barriers. Demonstrates the ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Provides exemplary patient service and is a role model for staff. May assist with monitoring, management and development of department budgets.
As a Mammographer, performs and assists in a variety of standard and specialized examinations and procedures per licensure.
EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit required. Associate's Degree preferred. Graduate of an accredited radiography program. Must be licensed in Radiography and have successfully passed the ARRT exam in Mammography. Continuing education and continuing experience requirements as defined by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) must be maintained.
Documentation of CEUs required for licensure. Must have an active CPR certification. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.
EXPERIENCE
Three years of broad based (multi-procedures) experience as an imaging technologist with some experience in a lead or supervisory role. Three years of direct technologist experience required.
SKILLS
Thorough knowledge and understanding of imaging practices and procedures specific to area of specialization. Written and verbal communication skills. Leadership potential, with exceptional customer service skills. Patience, empathy, and ability to react appropriately in stressful situations.
