Director of Engineering & Drafting

A growing industrial fabrication and construction organization is seeking a Director of Engineering & Drafting to provide enterprise-wide leadership across all engineering and drafting functions. Reporting directly to the President, this role supports all operating divisions and ensures timely, accurate, and cost-effective engineering solutions aligned with fabrication, field erection, and bid pursuits.

This position focuses on standardization, scalability, productivity improvement, and talent development while ensuring strong coordination between engineering, operations, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all engineering and drafting personnel
  
• Partner with Operations and Project Management to support active projects and bid opportunities
  
• Develop and maintain weekly engineering schedules aligned with divisional priorities
  
• Coordinate outsourcing of drafting services as needed
  
• Facilitate weekly engineering team meetings
  
• Manage workflow to support production and schedule commitments
  
• Review labor hours, overtime, and job cost performance
  
• Attend production, kickoff, and client meetings as required
  
• Provide technical leadership to Engineering, Drafting, Operations, and Executive teams
  
• Maintain and improve drawing standards and document control processes
  
• Ensure effective use of engineering and drafting software systems
  
• Drive continuous improvement focused on economical design and constructability
  
• Ensure drafting outputs integrate efficiently with shop requirements
  
• Mentor and develop engineering and drafting personnel
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
  
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  
• 10+ years of engineering, drafting, or construction management experience
  
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD (or similar design software)
  

Compensation & Location

• Base Salary: $145,000 - $185,000 (DOE)
  
• Performance-based bonus potential
  
• Comprehensive benefits package
  
• Henderson, KY preferred (remote candidates may be considered)
