This role serves as a strategic business partner to executive leadership, translating financial data into actionable insights and operational decision-making across events, venues, and company operations. The Director of Finance will oversee company budgets, event financial performance, cash flow management, reporting processes, reconciliations, internal controls, and finance department operations in a fast-paced live entertainment environment.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in building scalable financial systems and operational processes. This individual should understand the complexities of live events, venue operations, ticket revenue, settlements, and multi-department financial coordination.

Essential Job Functions
  • Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash flow management.
  • Maintain the company master budget alongside detailed event, venue, and departmental budgets.
  • Analyze operating results, event profitability, revenue performance, and cost trends to identify risks, opportunities, and operational improvements.
  • Prepare financial models, scenario analyses, and executive reporting to support strategic business decisions, investments, staffing models, pricing strategies, and new business opportunities.
  • Create clear financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for executive leadership review.
  • Manage capital expenditure forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
  • Perform revenue category, department, and business segment profitability analyses as needed.
  • Oversee event forecasting, settlements, reconciliations, and post-event financial reporting.
  • Compare event actuals against budgets and forecasts to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor ticketing, settlement, and revenue reporting across concerts, sports, VIP experiences, venue rentals, private events, and company-produced events.
  • Reconcile invoices against quotes, contracts, deposits, vendor costs, and settlement terms.
  • Oversee invoice creation, collections, payment tracking, and financial reconciliation processes for venues, clients, vendors, and event partners.
  • Maintain financial reporting and settlement documentation for internal leadership, talent buyers, City of Irvine reporting, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Review, strengthen, and maintain internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Develop and maintain finance and accounting policies related to revenue management, expense tracking, vendor procedures, contractor bidding, inventory, tax-related matters, and event plan changes.
  • Support audits, tax filings, compliance reviews, insurance requests, contract reviews, and other finance-related business needs.
  • Create and maintain SOPs for finance and accounting workflows and reporting procedures.
  • Lead finance process improvements, reporting standardization, and system optimization initiatives across Sage, Momentus, Ramp, Google Drive, OneDrive, and related platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, financial visibility, and cross-department collaboration.
  • Help build scalable financial infrastructure to support company growth across events, venues, and productions.
  • Partner with HR, Operations, Ticketing, Marketing, Food & Beverage, Production, and executive leadership to collect, organize, and analyze financial data.
  • Review payroll allocations, labor reporting, timesheets, and event labor documentation in partnership with HR and Operations teams.
  • Lead and mentor finance team members through training, accountability, performance feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support additional finance and operational initiatives as needed based on company priorities and business demands.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • 8–10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven experience developing financial strategies, improving processes, and managing complex budgets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Advanced experience with financial modeling, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management.
  • Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, and financial reporting platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in the live entertainment, venue management, event production, hospitality, or sports industries highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ticketing, settlement, and event revenue platforms such as Tixr, TicketSpice, or similar systems.
