Summary
The Director of Human Resources is directly responsible for setting the culture for the human resources department. Overseeing employee relations, benefits, compliance, licensing, risk management, litigation and insurance related issues. Responsible to oversee the recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new staff; consult with top executives on strategic planning under direct supervision of the president.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Human Resources:
· Oversees the organization’s staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring process, and onboarding.
· Ensures job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations.
· Develops training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities.
· Creates a compensation strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; keeps the strategy up to date. This includes analyzing trends in compensation and benefits.
· Investigates employee issues and conflicts and brings them to resolution.
· Handles staffing issues, such as mediating disputes and directing disciplinary procedures.
· Ensures the organization’s compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
· Use performance management tools to provide guidance and feedback to team.
· Ensures all company HR policies are applied consistently.
· Maintains the company’s organization charts and employee directory.
· Partner with management to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives.
· Maintains HR systems and processes.
· Conducts performance and salary reviews.
· Provides support and guidance to HR staff.
· Designs and implements employee retention strategies.
· Plans and oversees employee benefit programs.
· Provides detailed staff turnover statistics to senior leadership.
· Serves as a consultant to advise other managers on human resources issues, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment.
· Coordinates and supervises the work of Payroll and Benefit Manager and support staff.
· Ensures staff labor reports are accurate.
· Assists the Payroll and Benefit Manager to reconcile payroll issues as needed (data entry, benefits reconciliation, system errors etc.)
· Ensures payroll compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
· Responsible for the job postings for all open positions within the community.
· Responsible for ensuring that all training documents for Mosaic home office staff are in compliance at all times. This includes all pre-employment training and on-going training.
· Completes leadership development courses.
Licensing:
· Negotiating contracts with vendors, contractors, and other businesses who will use the organization’s intellectual property.
· Reviewing applications for new licenses or renewals of existing licenses, making sure that all documentation is complete and accurate.
· Overseeing the development of new products, including working with designers and manufacturers to ensure that the product meets company standards.
· Preparing reports on sales performance and other metrics to help the company determine how well each product is selling and whether it should be discontinued or redesigned.
· Maintaining an inventory of all licensed products to ensure that they are available in stores at all times.
· Reviewing reports from vendors regarding sales volume and other performance metrics to ensure that they are complying with the terms of their contracts.
· Negotiating marketing and advertising plans with vendors to ensure that they are in line with the organization’s objectives.
· Reviewing and approving designs for new products to ensure that they meet company standards for quality and safety.
· Overseeing the implementation of licensing strategies to maximize sales across multiple channels, including retail stores, online shops, and catalogs.
Compliance:
· Developing and implementing company policies and regulations
· Overseeing all business operations relating to compliance including policies, investments, and procedures.
· Designing and monitoring control systems to deal with violations of legal rules and internal policies.
· Regularly assessing the efficiency of control systems and recommending effective improvements.
· Monitoring business operations and reporting infractions
· Reviewing company policies for possible risks and liabilities and researching legal requirements for new initiatives.
· Ensuring everyone adheres to legal standards and in-house policies.
· Preparing and submitting regulatory paperwork
· Leading and managing the compliance team
Litigation:
· Investigating the case
· Consulting with and advising clients.
· Filing documents to the court.
· Representing clients during a civil trial.
· Conducting discovery, including issuing subpoenas, conducting interviews, and reviewing documents.
· Negotiating with opposing counsel to reach settlement agreements.
· Questioning witnesses, victims, and others involved in cases.
· Preparing and filing pleadings, motions, and other documents with state and federal courts.
· Works with outside counsel to ensure all required information is submitted.
Miscellaneous:
· Maintains security of equipment.
· Performs other office work as assigned.
· Performs other tasks as assigned by senior management.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
· Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
· Ability to speak clearly on the telephone and maintain pleasant presence and tone of voice while
interacting with visitors, residents, or staff.
· Ability to type 40-45 WPM and operate computer system with knowledge in word processing and
spreadsheet software.
· Maintains acceptable attendance record; notifies supervisor if late or unable to work, is able to work
flexible hours to meet the requirement of the job.
· Requires minimal supervision. Is a self-starter.
· Is accurate, dependable, neat, and thorough in assigned tasks.
· Organizes and utilizes time appropriately; sets priorities to accomplish assigned tasks.
