Overall Summary

This position is a key risk leader within the Risk organization, responsible for ensuring a strong risk culture and delivery of all risk management responsibilities supporting Early Warning’s digital asset initiatives. This role partners closely with product, engineering, compliance, and operations stakeholders to build an understanding of end-to-end and integrated risks, and to leverage risk management activities and techniques to enable secure, scalable, and compliant digital asset–enabled capabilities.

Essential Functions

  • Drive cultural awareness, knowledge, adoption, and accountability for risk management activities across digital asset–related initiatives.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and strategic advisor to identify, assess, monitor, and document current and emerging risks associated with digital asset platforms, distributed systems, and evolving payment architectures.

  • Actively engage in discussions concerning strategic business decisions to advise and guide on risk considerations, particularly where new technologies, integrations, or regulatory considerations introduce novel risk profiles.

  • Collaborate with other risk and business leaders to drive an end-to-end, holistic view of technology risks, controls, and issues, including those spanning traditional systems and emerging digital asset–enabled platforms.

  • Work with First Line Risk Management (FLRM) functions to understand and monitor applicable requirements and assess business impact to support a consistent approach across Technology for appropriate projects and processes to address needed changes.

  • Work closely with technology business leaders and second line of defense teams to maintain a comprehensive universe of risks, controls, and RCSAs that reflect a complete and accurate view of technology risk, including considerations for new architectures, external integrations, and evolving regulatory expectations.

  • Aggregate risk data to support reporting and analytics for risk management use, including RCSA results, issues management, vendor risk, and control testing; ensure a comprehensive set of KRIs for effective reporting.

  • Oversee risk assessments and control design for complex, distributed, and externally integrated systems, ensuring appropriate coverage of areas such as data integrity, transaction processing, security, and resiliency.

  • Manage and develop a team responsible for executing risk management disciplines in support of digital asset initiatives.

  • Prepare materials for risk reporting and updates to senior management, risk committees, and external oversight bodies.

  • Ensure leadership has a holistic understanding of timelines and dependencies for risk programs supporting digital asset initiatives.

  • Provide effective leadership in developing and leading a high-performing team in support of technology risk objectives.

  • Support the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor's degree.

  • Minimum of 12 years of risk management experience, preferably within financial services or other complex, highly regulated environments, using the three lines of defense model.

  • Demonstrated success developing and retaining highly engaged, high-performing teams and aligning technology business risk organization to meet business objectives.

  • Strong Information Technology subject matter knowledge, including modern architectures such as cloud, APIs, distributed systems, and external integrations.

  • Strong understanding of risk assessment techniques, practices, and control frameworks relevant to the financial services industry.

  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across the three lines of defense.

  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to financial services technology and emerging technology domains.

  • Ability to synthesize and analyze risk data and translate into actionable insights.

  • Persuasive communication, organization, and presentation skills, with experience working with C-level executives.

  • Effective influence management skills with experience challenging peers and leaders with contrasting views.

  • Background and drug screen required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Risk management, internal control, audit, and/or information security certification(s).

  • Experience documenting business processes and functions.

  • Experience with regulatory reporting and regulatory interactions.

  • Experience or familiarity with risk considerations related to digital assets, blockchain-based systems, or emerging payment technologies, including security, operational, and regulatory risk domains.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers and travel.

The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL / Washington, DC in USD per year is: $188,000 - $235,000.
New York, NY/ San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $226,000 - $282,000.


Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
