Job Description
Pet Care Technician (Part-Time, Flexible Hours) – Metro Detroit
Work that fits your life — and fills it with tailwags.
Company Overview
At Paws Around Motown, we believe that great pet care starts with great people. Our team is joyful, kind, professional, and just the right amount of quirky. We’re enrichment geeks, behavior nerds, and full-on cheerleaders for every pet in our care. Whether it’s a midday walk or a bedtime snuggle visit, we treat every moment like it matters — because it does.
We know that not everyone is looking for a full-time gig. But if you’re looking for meaningful work — the kind that makes a difference, fits your life, and connects you to something bigger — you just might belong here.
Job Summary
We’re hiring a part-time Pet Care Technician who’s available for midday and occasional evening pet care visits. This role is ideal for college students in their second or third year, or freelancers with a flexible schedule who want to add meaningful, consistent work to their week.
You’ll walk dogs, care for cats, write sweet visit reports, and be part of a heart-led, high-standard team. You’ll work about three days a week, mostly midday, with the option to pick up evening pet sitting visits as well.
Location : Metro Detroit (Royal Oak, Ferndale, Berkley, Detroit, Farmington, Southfield, and nearby areas)
Schedule : Flexible part-time — 3 days / week, midday availability, with occasional PM visits
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide dog walks and in-home pet care visits with structure, love, and attention to detail
Follow client-specific care instructions and company safety standards
Check in / out via our mobile app and write thoughtful, photo-filled visit reports
Communicate with the team using Slack and other digital tools
Be flexible, professional, and consistent — even when this isn’t your main gig
Open to split shifts (midday and evening) on assigned days when needed
Represent the company with warmth and pride — you’re not just part of the team, you’re part of the mission
Qualifications and Skills
Required :
Comfort and experience with dogs and cats
Physically able to walk, bend, kneel, and manage active pets
Clear communicator who’s dependable and respectful of others’ time
Comfortable using mobile apps, uploading photos, and following digital processes
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a smartphone
Available for midday shifts three days per week (e.g., 11–2 or 12–4)
Willing to occasionally work a split shift (e.g., midday walk and PM visit)
Preferred :
Second or third year college student, or freelancer with a flexible schedule
Previous experience in customer service, volunteering, or care-based roles
Loves talking about the company and being a brand advocate
Treats part-time work with full-time heart and accountability
Benefits and Perks
Flexible schedule that fits your class or freelance life
Part-time hours that actually mean something
Paid training and ongoing support — you’ll never feel on your own
Tech-forward systems to keep things easy and smooth
Welcoming, values-driven team that celebrates every win
Real impact, real pets, real joy — no fluff, no drama
A workday filled with tailwags, fresh air, and tiny, meaningful moments
If you’re looking for work that makes you smile, a team that’s got your back, and pets who light up when you walk in the door — we’d love to meet you.
