Job description

Application Design Drafter

Location: Charlotte, NC (On-Site Role)

Who We Are

At Fonroche Lighting America, we are transforming outdoor lighting with autonomous solar-powered streetlights—a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to traditional grid-connected lighting. Our solutions help cities and commercial properties improve safety while reducing costs and energy use.

We are looking for an Application Design Drafter to support our sales team by creating lighting layouts, photometric models, and clean technical proposal documents.

About the Role

This is a drafting-focused role, ideal for someone with AutoCAD experience (or who wants to learn) who enjoys technical design work and wants to learn lighting layout tools like AGi32. You’ll support the sales team by turning site information, notes, and measurements into professional drawings, photometric plans, and proposal packages.

This role does not require an engineering degree. If you have drafting experience and strong attention to detail, we can train you on the lighting-specific software.

What You’ll Do

Drafting & Layouts

  • Create lighting layouts, photometric designs, and renderings using AGi32, AutoCAD, or similar tools.

  • Draft pole layouts, fixture placements, and site-specific drawings based on sales input.

Proposal Package Creation

  • Compile proposal documents that include photometric layouts, fixture schedules, and bill of materials.

  • Ensure all drawings and documents follow company standards and are accurate for customer review.

Documentation & Data Entry

  • Maintain up-to-date product files, templates, and design libraries.

  • Enter project details, specs, and BOM information into Salesforce (training provided).

Team Collaboration

  • Support the sales team with quick-turn layouts and clean, professional design documents.

  • Occasionally assist with site measurements or project reviews (minimal travel).

What You Bring

  • Drafting Experience: AutoCAD or similar experience preferred.

  • Ability to Learn Software: Comfortable learning AGi32 or other lighting design programs.

  • Detail-Oriented Approach: Strong accuracy and organization in all drawings.

  • Technical Mindset: Able to read site plans, measurements, and basic technical details.

  • Communication Skills: Capable of preparing clean design documents and communicating clearly with sales.

  • Team Player: Enjoys supporting cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • On-Site Requirement: Role is based in Charlotte for close collaboration with sales and leadership.

Compensation & Perks

  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage

  • Generous PTO

  • Supportive, fast-paced team environment

  • Growth Opportunities: Learn lighting design, solar sizing basics, and advanced photometrics
