About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students with disabilities through high-quality instruction and individualized services. In this role, you will manage a caseload of students with IEPs, provide academic support in both resource room and general education settings, and collaborate closely with educators, administrators, and families to ensure student success.
This position is ideal for an educator who is detail-oriented, student-focused, and committed to delivering inclusive and compliant special education services.
What You’ll DoInstruction & Student Support
Provide academic instruction and support to students with disabilities in resource room and general education environments .
Implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to support student progress.
Measure student skills and growth using appropriate assessments and testing instruments.
IEP & Case Management
Manage a caseload of special education students, including IEPs, REEDs, and MDRs .
Draft, implement, and update IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Coordinate and ensure appropriate testing accommodations for students with IEPs.
Submit all required special education reports and documentation accurately and on time.
Collaboration & Compliance
Advise general education teachers on accommodations and supports for students with IEPs.
Collaborate with school administrators regarding the discipline of students with disabilities.
Participate in Child Find activities and Special Education Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) .
Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure the delivery of appropriate special education services.
Documentation & Records
Maintain accurate and compliant digital and / or paper records for special education students.
Ensure all documentation aligns with federal, state, and organizational special education requirements.
What You’ll BringMinimum Qualifications
Michigan Special Education Teaching Certificate
Successful experience as a classroom teacher in special education
Strong knowledge of special education procedures and compliance requirements
Proficiency with student information systems and special education-related software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check
