We have created an opening for a Pharmacy Education Specialist within our specialty pharmacies. This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position. This will be a hybrid position and occasional travel to branch locations will be required.

  • The Pharmacy Education Specialist supports the professional development of pharmacy staff through comprehensive onboarding, training, and continuous education. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining a scalable, high-quality learning program that ensures regulatory compliance, standardization, and competency across pharmacy services, inventory management, and logistics operations. Working closely with leadership and interdepartmental teams, the specialist fosters a culture of continuous learning and consistent practice aligned with organizational goals.

  • Primary Responsibilities :

  • Collaborates with Pharmacy Leadership to ensure compliance with Federal and State rules and regulations, USP 797 / 800, and accrediting agency standards.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a scalable current and future training program including methodology, evaluation criteria, and maintenance of quality documents and program design.
  • Lead onboarding and completion of initial training for new Pharmacy department teammates via in person and / or virtually; establishes a comprehensive knowledge base of the use of the EMR, pharmacy systems, workflow, inventory management, and logistics.
  • Provide timely coaching and constructive feedback to staff, utilizing data to identify and address training gaps and performance issues and measure the effectiveness of educational programs.
  • Conduct scheduled competency assessments for designated trainers and evaluators across departments and branches.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of all NELC therapies; educates pharmacy and other applicable NELC staff to assure competency and consistency within and among all team members.
  • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance, drive process improvements, and maintain effective communication across departments.
  • Support performance and quality improvement initiatives through audits, data analysis, policy updates, and responsible resource utilization.
  • Additional Responsibilities :

  • Support pharmacists in the delivery of pharmaceutical care across patient age groups.
  • Follows NELC policies and procedures and professional appearance standards in the normal conduction of company business.
  • Actively engage in professional development activities such as meetings, in-services, and continuing education.
  • Perform other duties and projects assigned by pharmacy leadership.
  • Educational & Professional Requirements :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
  • Pharmacy Technician licensure / registration in current state. Must obtain licensure / registration in all states where NELC operates within one year of hire.
  • Certified Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of sterile compounding experience preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of home infusion therapy experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of training or quality related experience in a hospital or homecare setting preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a customer-service oriented role preferred.
  • Familiarity with LEAN principles preferred.
  • Position may involve work in an office, virtual, and / or clinical settings, with occasional travel as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Regulatory Requirements & Skills :

  • Knowledge of and compliance with state / federal pharmacy regulations, USP
  • standards, and HIPAA regulations.

  • Familiarity with accreditation processes such as Joint Commission and DSCSA compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Familiarity with logistics and inventory management.
  • Understanding of LEAN or process improvement methodologies (preferred).
  • Customer service-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

    Monday - Friday from 8 : 00am until 5 : 00pm. Occasional weekend travel may be required.
