Job description

This is a mid-level management position responsible for a variety of clinical activities, most of which relate to the training, marketing and promotion of the company's products, services, and “brand” image. In addition, the position is responsible for being a lead in corporate clinical trial activities driven by new product development, healthcare needs and regulatory requirements.

The Clinical Education Manager will develop and deliver all training to the sales and marketing staff. This will include onboarding, online clinical education modules, and team clinical updates concerning new developments that impact our customers. This person will also provide technical healthcare education and guidance to various Company employees and customers.

The Clinical Education Manager will develop and manage the execution of short- and long-term strategic clinical plans designed to support company business strategies. To accomplish this, he / she will work with key Company stakeholders and various Key Opinion Leaders (KOL’s). By working with local and national organizations and KOLs, the Clinical Education Manager will identify clinical expansion opportunities and develop and execute actionable plans that integrate into the business strategies. This will include fostering strategic relationships with schools and educational companies.

This individual will maintain a record of relevant clinical studies to be used by the sales and marketing team. Additionally, this individual will identify, evaluate and lead any clinical trials that will drive the business strategies of the company.

The Clinical Education Manager will also maintain strategic clinical relationships, encouraging interest, study, support, and acceptance of the company's products in the marketplace for existing and potential applications.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Marketing and Sales Team in creating and communicating a cohesive clinical technical message for company products that is congruent with Company objectives and strategies.
  • Collaboratively develop a clinical strategy for company's short- and long-term strategic marketing, new product and regulatory plans.
  • Responsible for creating and delivering clinical and product-related training materials and programs for internal staff, business partners, end-users and clinicians. Ensure training programs match audience need and background.
  • Investigate, initiate and coordinate clinical trial activities with medical professionals in conjunction with Marketing, Sales, Research and Development and Regulatory Affairs. This clinical trial coordination could include assisting clinicians with protocol development, literature search, designing data collection forms, providing appropriate product samples, preparing final abstracts for publication submission, etc.
  • Represent Marketing and Sales on product development teams and act as a liaison between the Sales Team, the end-user, and the technical staff and external medical staff.
  • Manage expenses relevant to with the Clinical Marketing activities and participate in budget related activities as required.
  • Develop cross-functional processes and procedures to standardize, automate or streamline Marketing and Sales functions as they relate to technical and clinical functions.
  • Support the Customer Service Team efforts.
  • Assist the Sales and Marketing Team, Research and Development, and Regulatory with specific projects on an as-needed basis.
  • Develop, manage and leverage clinical relationships to support broad business goals (e.g. white papers, presentations, clinical evidence, market and clinical evaluations).
  • Train and collaborate with KOLs to support business goals and strategies. (key opinion leader)
  • Represent the company at trade shows, related associations, key events and functions.
  • Assist with developing product labeling and marketing materials, (e-books, blogs, etc.) as requested, in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assure that the various activities involving clinical marketing are operated in full compliance with all applicable governing bodies (FDA, Joint Commission Accreditation of Hospital Organizations (JCAHO), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), etc.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Comply with the requirements of data entry necessary to maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Comply with all company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as required.
  • Qualifications & Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Clinical experience (i.e. Registered Nurse (RN), Physicians Assistant (PA), or Nurse Practitioner (NP), current licensure and previous experience in a medical device company are preferred.
  • Background / Training / Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree / certification / Licensure in Healthcare, Nursing, Emergency Medicine
  • 5-7 years of practice in the medical field, including in-hospital experience in a variety of settings (required)
  • 2+ years of marketing, business development, project management or related experience
  • Proven track record of delivering results, high initiative
  • Strong self-motivation and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills including communication, collaboration, networking and negotiation capabilities
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Effective oral and written communication with medical professionals, scientists, peers and senior management
  • Experience in product presentations and product training, along with development of training materials
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office Products and personal computer skills
  • Flexible to deal with issues at the necessary level : functional or managerial
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations required
  • Experience managing clinical studies preferred, not required
  • Physical / Environmental Demands

    Well-lighted, heated and / or air conditioned, indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.

    Approximately 30 % travel required (travel will be higher during scheduled conferences)
