Orange-Ulster BOCES is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Students with Disabilities to help children thrive by providing comprehensive and individualized services to meet their unique needs.
About the Role : As a Teacher of Students with Disabilities, you will work with students who have significant developmental and intellectual disabilities, social / emotional needs, behavior management needs, and / or learning differences. You will play a key role in supporting students' individualized needs while fostering strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Responsibilities :
- Work directly with students, identifying, developing, and implementing appropriate instructional strategies, materials, equipment, and environmental modifications to maximize each student's potential.
- Draft annual goals and short-term objectives for IEP meetings, regularly evaluate student progress, and adjust goals as necessary.
- Use critical thinking skills to effectively assess, develop and deliver training and information to establish and maintain strong relationships and regularly communicate progress towards goals.
