Experience and Education
High school graduate or equivalent and no experience is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required.
Shift : 6PM-6 : 30AM
Job Duties
Facilitates patient throughout and enhances patient satisfaction with testing process. Checks computer for new orders, reviews physician’s orders on patient’s chart. Identifies patients via two methods. Explains procedure and protects patient’s privacy.
Conducts computerized electrocardiogram testing. Uses proper chest and limb lead placement. Assesses quality of tracing as related to baseline stability, lack of electrical interference, and freedom from artifact.
Records technically accurate EKG tracing and places preliminary copy in patient’s chart. Communicates presence of any life threatening arrhythmia to patient’s nurse.
Performs Thoracic Bio-impedence procedure. Places completed report on patient’s chart immediately post procedure.
Prints daily log and checks against daily transaction log. Enters charges as needed and credits for services not rendered. Places EKG final report on chart after read by physician.
Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot minor equipment problems. Reports malfunctions to manager and notifies Biomed.
Facilitates storage and retrieval of records. Checks and orders supplies, leads, electrodes and paper with consideration for cost containment.
Reports errors promptly and takes appropriate follow-up action to rectify error.
Serves as patient and family advocate. Responds to patient’s and / or family’s complaints in approriate manner. Reports complaints to Manager or their designee in timely manner. Utilizes chain of command appropriately to resolve patient, operational, or personal work related problems.
Participates in performance improvement activities as directed. Attends at least 80% of scheduled staff meetings and attends 100% of mandatory educational sessions.
Works cooperatively with all staff and supports staff new to environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
