Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions : Installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of electrical equipment and systems including, but not limited to, traffic signals and related equipment, freeway lighting, power drops, electrical fixtures; maintains testing and repair equipment in good condition; prepares and maintains various records and reports; maintains parts / supply inventory. Assists in the implementation of traffic control plans in work zones.

Working Conditions
Works inside and outside in all kinds of weather; exposed to the hazards of electrical shocks, cuts, bruises and broken bones from falls. May be exposed to dirt, dust, grime, noise, traffic, mechanical, electrical, and gas vapor hazards and hazards working around equipment and construction sites. Works in trenches and ditches; works at heights up to 65 feet. Subject to callout 24 hours a day.
Minimum Essential Qualifications
Knowledge : Extensive knowledge in the installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic control and related electrical equipment. Documents work performed, prepares and maintains various records, reports, and assigned vehicles. Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and procedures; working knowledge of National Electric Code; knowledge of the tools, methods and techniques used in the electrical trade.
Skills / Abilities : Skill in the use of the tools and equipment used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems; ability to work from blueprints and schematics; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city officials, employees, and the public; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to perform job assignments with limited supervision.
Physical Requirements : Constantly sees, hears and writes by hand; frequently drives a vehicle, stands, stoops, walks, bends, crouches, kneels, reaches, sits, squats, cleans, twists body, climbs, uses measuring equipment, uses physical dexterity, operates a two-way radio and requires stamina; infrequently pulls objects weighing up to 70 lbs., holds objects weighing up to 40 lbs., lifts, carries, pushes and drags objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
Education / Experience : Graduation from high school or equivalent; experience in electrical work at the journeyman level required.

Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid driver's license equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Must obtain a Class A or Class B CDL within 6 months of hire. Completion of advanced training courses and / or certifications in electrical work desirable. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug / alcohol screen test.
