Job description

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Service Electrician to join our team. The Service Electrician will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring the optimal performance of solar installations. The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine maintenance inspections and prep work for solar PV systems to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues.
  2. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems in solar installations, including issues with wiring, inverters, and other components.
  3. Perform repairs and replacements of faulty equipment or components as needed, following safety protocols and industry best practices.
  4. Test and commission newly installed solar PV systems to verify functionality and compliance with specifications.
  5. Document all maintenance, repair, and installation activities accurately and thoroughly, including recording system performance data and any recommendations for improvements.
  6. Provide technical support and guidance to other team members, including apprentices and junior technicians.
  7. Stay current with industry developments, regulations, and best practices related to solar PV systems and electrical installations.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as an electrician, with specific experience in solar PV systems preferred.
  2. Valid electrician's license or certification in [state/province/country].
  3. Strong understanding of electrical theory and principles, including knowledge of AC and DC circuits.
  4. Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and standards pertaining to solar PV installations, such as NEC, UL, and local building codes.
  5. Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently to troubleshoot issues.
  7. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
  8. Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
  9. Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
  10. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
