We design, build, operate, and sell stratospheric balloon systems, and the data we collect supports a wide range of applications, from real-time wildfire monitoring to urban mapping. Urban Sky manufactures one-of-a-kind stratospheric balloons from start to finish in our facility in North Denver. These balloons are made of a unique airtight fabric and involve long continuous seams. Making balloons involves patterning, seaming, adhesive bonds and some light mechanical work adjoining plastic fittings to the balloons. The balloons are very lightweight and relatively small compared to other stratospheric balloons, but quite large when compared with things like clothing and outdoor equipment. In this job the candidate would be responsible for following detailed work instructions and documenting the build as they go using provided quality templates.

In addition to building balloons, the candidate will periodically be required to help with other manufacturing tasks such as assembling test equipment, operating test equipment, general shop upkeep, cleaning and maintenance.

Key Functions :

• Follow detailed work instructions to build balloon assemblies
• Cut large patterns, seam patterns together per a proprietary seaming method
• Adhesive bonding of balloon fabric
• Light mechanical work attaching plastic fittings to balloons
• Light rigging work creating custom cord (light rope) assemblies and attaching to the balloon
• Parachute manufacturing
• Provide support in the assembly and preparation of balloon kits
• Follow a manufacturing schedule and prioritize build tasks
• Inventory Management

Urban Sky is required to post this salary range per Colorado law. Your salary will be determined based on your abilities and experience.
