Position Summary / Purpose :
Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents' needs.
GCU maintains a partnership with United for Maryvale, a subsidiary of Ministerios Unidos En Una Vision, located at 3117 N. 44th Street, Phoenix, AZ, 85018. United for Maryvale provides mentorship for K-8 students. The CSLP student worker's work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of United for Maryvale; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall / spring).
CSLP : This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, "Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need." These services must be open and accessible to the community.
As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).
Note : All FWS and FWS-CSLP positions require applicants to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https : / / studentaid.gov / h / apply-for-aid / fafsa to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS.
Primary Responsibilities / Accountabilities / Essential Functions :
- Train entry-level soccer
- Assist Head Coach as needed
- Assist with set-up / breakdown of equipment
