Job Summary
The Art Therapist is responsible for providing trauma-informed, therapeutic art interventions to survivors of domestic violence and / or sexual assault, including individuals, families, and groups. This role facilitates creative expression and healing through brief, evidence-based interventions that enhance resilience, emotional processing, and coping skills.
As part of The Center for Women and Families’ (CWF) trauma-informed services, the Art Therapist collaborates with clinical staff, case managers, and advocacy teams to ensure holistic support for survivors. The role requires a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, creative therapy modalities, and survivor advocacy principles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Therapeutic Interventions & Direct Client Support
- Conduct individual, group, and family art therapy sessions tailored to the needs of survivors.
- Facilitate creative, trauma-informed interventions to help clients process emotions, develop coping skills, and rebuild self-esteem.
- Perform intake interviews and assessments to inform individualized treatment plans.
- Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling for survivors experiencing acute distress.
- Ensure all therapeutic approaches align with evidence-based and survivor-centered care models.
