Job Summary
Under direct supervision of the RN APP and / or physician, provides patient care in accordance with treatment plans. Communicates changes in patient conditions within the scope of practice to RN. Collaborates with the RN and other members of the healthcare team. Participates in patient care activities.
Essential Functions :
- Obtains vital signs and differentiates normal from abnormal findings. Reports abnormal values or conditions to the RN. (EX. Abnormal VS, bleeding, safety concerns, family issues. (20%)
- After completion of the Denver Health Phlebotomy class and documented competency, provides phlebotomy for patients per standard orders and in collaboration with physicians and nursing. (15%)
- Assists the RN in carrying out the plan of care for assigned patients. Acts appropriately in critical situations. (15%)
- Assists with the care coordination and safe transportation of patients through the ED visit. Is able to transport low risk monitored patients through the hospital. (15%)
- Performs transportation responsibilities when requested; transporting patients from one area to another; delivering laboratory specimens, blood products, medications and other hospital / medical items to the requested departments as needed; and includes access to the pneumatic tube system to transport items, including blood products and medications, to and from the tube and the desired location. (15%)
- Under direct supervision of the RN and as delegated by the physician, implements care based on prioritized patient needs, assists with the plan of care with measurable outcome and goals for the patient / family, and participates in the discharge planning process. (20%)
