Location: Pueblo, CO
Agency: United Health Care Staffing

Join a Critical Surgical Support Team

Play a vital role behind the scenes by ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to support OR operations and other hospital departments. This role requires strong knowledge of sterilization processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple SPD functions.

Required Qualifications

  • CRCST (HSPA) or CSPDT (CBSPD) – Required
  • BLS Certification (AHA) – Required
  • Minimum 1 year of Sterile Processing experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of decontamination, sterilization, and instrumentation

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform instrument decontamination, cleaning, and high-level disinfection
  • Prepare and assemble surgical trays (prep & pack)
  • Operate sterilization equipment (steam, Sterrad, etc.)
  • Manage case carts and sterile storage
  • Process and track vendor trays and surgical instruments
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards
  • Support multiple departments including OR, ICU, ER, and outpatient clinics

Work Environment & Case Mix

  • Primary support for Operating Room (OR)
  • Cases include:
    • Orthopedics (total joints, trauma, arthroscopy)
    • Spine, General Surgery
    • DaVinci XI robotics
    • ENT, Urology
  • Exposure to a wide variety of surgical instruments and equipment

Schedule & Call Details

  • Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (M-F)
  • Call: Required (weeknights, weekends, holidays)
  • Call Response Time: 30 minutes
  • Scheduling: Managed by Lead Tech (no self-scheduling; trades allowed)

Additional Details

  • Floating: Within SPD areas (Decontam, Prep & Pack, Sterile Stores)
  • Scrubs: Hospital-provided (blue surgical attire)
  • Orientation: Hands-on training across all SPD functions until competency is achieved
