Employee Relations Manager

At VF, we strive to foster a culture of belonging based on respect, connection, openness, and authenticity. A day in the life of an Employee Relations Manager at VF looks a little like this. The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for employee relations services across the various VF functions. You will be responsible for leading ER functions as a trusted expert on matters including internal allegations, leadership coaching, claims and investigations geared towards root cause identification, sensitive and confidential matters as well as performance management, offboarding, training and development, leave management and compliance with state and federal requirements. Additionally, the Employee Relations Manager will provide supervisory responsibilities to other members of the broader Employee Relations team.

Let's break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

  • Conduct timely, thorough and impartial internal investigations on all workplace allegations, including harassment, discrimination, and retaliation and other Title VII related concerns and provide recommendations on disciplinary action plans to ensure fair and consistent outcomes.
  • These investigations include facilitating difficult conversations with employees and leaders, on complicated and sensitive topics demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and the ability to think on your feet while conducting an exploratory interview.
  • Conduct legal and compliance reviews of substantiated facts and prepare all required documentation with a focus on issue resolution within assigned region / area.
  • Prepare executive level summaries and recommendations on employee relations cases with a focus on resolving the matter with minimal risk and upholding our VF Values.
  • Provide Leaders at all levels with strategic guidance, recommendations and support with performance management, including the implementation of coaching documents, preparing for quarterly check-in conversations, performance improvement plans, and exit strategies.
  • Provide employees with support and guidance to address their concerns in areas including teamwork, communication, and leadership among others.
  • Support leave management including ADA accommodations and conduct the Interactive Process to make recommendations in work accommodations
  • Manage the reorganization and exit process including preparing planning logistics, preparing leaders, ensuring accurate documentation, conducting notification conversation with professionalism and empathy and while ensuring compliance and consistency with company policies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation regarding all cases in designated case management tools and systems.
  • Partner with Client Group HRBP's to align disciplinary actions involving employees, leaders, and / or teams. Additionally, partner with HRBPs to support strategic initiatives and plans within the designated line of business.
  • Draft, update and maintain VF policies and provide coaching and performance recommendations in alignment with them.

What do you need to succeed? We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you'll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while a Bachelor's degree in human resources, or related fields is highly preferred, we are most interested in your 3-5 years of years of experience and professional achievements. The foundation skills you will need in this position are :

  • 3-5 years of corporate and retail ER or HR experience required; including previous experience in full E2E case management and strong utilization and understanding of ER case management systems.
  • Previous ER leadership / oversight of ER employees highly preferred.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships to support employees, leaders, and HRBPs both in person and remotely.
  • Strong business communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Previous project management experience preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting data analysis, reporting, and report generation.
  • Proficient PC skills (Excel, Word, Reporting, etc.).
  • Occasional Travel up to 15%.

Hiring Range : $87,264.00 USD - $109,080.00 USD annually Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
