Accountability :

  • Accountable to the Employment Services Program Manager, Workforce Director
  • Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities
  • Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Represent Cultivate Initiatives to various stakeholders and community partners
  • Place 18 interns in outside positions in the surrounding Portland business community
  • Help those interns who are placed retain employment for at least 90 days by creating informational material, activities, and identifying and removing barriers to employment.
  • Work with interns who have completed the program and who are currently in the program to develop resumes, cover letters, job search and interviewing skills.
  • Create educational materials for local businesses about what unhoused neighbors need to be successful while reentering the workforce.
  • Identify industries or companies that are most aligned with the population Cultivate serves
  • Create accurate and timely records with the help of the Employment Services Program Manager and Workforce Director to maintain valid data on program outcomes including weekly reports of the number of interns that have been placed or where they are in the process of placement.
  • Completing appropriate surveys required by the City of Portland
  • May participate in Cultivate Initiatives special fundraising events
  • May implement special projects and activities
  • May perform other duties as requested by supervisor
  • Qualifications :

  • Experience working with communities, experiencing poverty and homelessness
  • Experience in employment and staff development
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods, and ability to stoop and kneel occasionally
  • Ability to speak and hear to use telephone
  • Ability to effectively use a computer
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English
  • Work Conditions and Physical Requirements :

  • Work is performed mostly indoors, but will be in outdoor environment of the Menlo Park Safe Rest Village 2-3 times per week.
  • Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels, from quiet offices to louder, industrial settings.
  • Work requires the ability to perform manual labor requiring the full range of body movement.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and / or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Work requires the ability to perform repetitive movements of the wrist, hands, or fingers due to continuous use of computer keyboards and other office equipment
  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods, and ability to stoop and kneel occasionally
  • Being physically present in the CI offices from 7 : 30 a.m.- 4 : 30 p.m., Monday-Friday attending the 8 : 30 am morning meeting and 4pm afternoon meeting when possible.
  • Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or religious exemption
  • Must be able to provide proof of Driver's License
