The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. Join our team as an Economist in Market Design!
As an Energy Economist, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to develop, evaluate, and refine the principles and rules that govern the electricity market within the SPP region. Your work will be instrumental in conducting in-depth economic analyses of market dynamics, designing effective solutions, and evaluating regulatory policies and market-based strategies. Your expertise will ensure that the market operates efficiently, reliably, and transparently.
Key Responsibilities :
Understand and apply the principles of organized wholesale market designs, including the company's market rules, to business functions.
Coordinate and communicate with SPP market participants and member companies regarding market design.
Analyze current market mechanisms and identify opportunities for enhancements to improve efficiency, reliability, and transparency.
Evaluate proposed changes to market design, regulatory policies, and market solutions to address emerging market challenges.
Utilize econometric techniques to analyze market data, identify trends, and assess the behavior of market participants and market performance.
Conduct analysis to evaluate proposed market designs and policy interventions under various market conditions.
Conduct research on the design of other RTO / ISO markets, and document your findings in clear, concise written reports.
Facilitate market design changes through the SPP stakeholder process and provide technical expertise to relevant committees and working groups.
Assist in drafting filings, letters, and testimony related to FERC filings, and provide data to support the process.
Develop and conduct market analysis to detect weaknesses and recommend improvements.
Review and develop educational materials related to market design for stakeholders.
