The Engineering and Building Systems Management (EBSM) Energy & Utility Programs team is seeking a professional with a strong background in energy audits and analysis, commissioning, and implementation of conservation measures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience independently developing, designing, and executing energy projects, with particular focus on advanced building controls and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment sequences. At MD Anderson, energy conservation measures are typically engineered and continuously commissioned by dedicated in-house energy professionals. This position will be dedicated to executing high-impact energy initiatives, driving strategic reductions in utility expenses, and supporting the long-term success of our conservation programs. Ideal candidates will have strong skills in at least three of the competencies listed in the posting.

SUMMARY
The Energy Consultant - Energy Projects will provide strategic-level support for analyzing energy and utilities consumption, commissioning new and existing facilities, and ensuring efficient building operations. This position works closely with Energy Team members, in-house engineers, operations staff, and external stakeholders to identify performance gaps, develop targeted energy-saving measures, and continuously refine our Retrocommissioning (RCx), Monitoring-based Commissioning (MBCx), HVAC Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD), and Commissioning (Cx) programs. The consultant will play a pivotal role in strengthening our existing workforce, bridging technical skill gaps in controls / HVAC programming, and enhancing MD Anderson's track record of sustained energy savings.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

1. Energy Efficiency & Engineering
- Develop, evaluate, and implement energy conservation measures and optimization strategies, particularly focusing on HVAC programming and controls.
- Support retrocommissioning (RCx) and monitoring-based commissioning (MBCx) efforts to identify and resolve building system inefficiencies.
- Introduce new energy technologies and recommend improvements based on data-driven analyses.

Other duties as assigned
oBackground in energy auditing, commissioning, and building systems optimization (RCx, MBCx).
oStrong understanding of HVAC systems and controls, with hands-on programming or controls engineering experience preferred.
oDemonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects, collaborate with stakeholders, and communicate technical information effectively.
oFamiliarity with utility budgeting, forecasting, or supply contract negotiation is beneficial.
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field or related field. Five years engineering design experience with an emphasis on the design of facility systems.
