Energy Markets Manager
Voltus represents the "potential of us" to better manage energy through simple, cost and risk-free demand response programs. Our commercial and industrial customers generate cash by allowing us to maximize the value of their operational flexibility in energy markets. We hire teammates who are bright, gritty, and good and who have a genuine passion for delivering a cleaner energy future and for working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Voltus is hiring a whip-smart, entrepreneurial, proud energy nerd with unparalleled project management and communication skills. This multifaceted role is responsible for managing Voltus's growing distributed energy resources (DER) portfolio in the New York ISO (NYISO), at the frontier of cleantech innovation. If you are bright, gritty, good, you embrace converting ambiguity into action, and if your brain marries creativity and engineering diligence, you're a great fit.
Voltus is a remote and virtual company, distributed across the US, Canada, and abroad with many team members in New York, San Francisco, Boston, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, DC and other cities. This is a remote role and you can work from anywhere with the ability to engage in market-facing activities and to hold meetings with coworkers and stakeholders during North America business hours.
Key Requirements
- Lead the team that manages all energy market activities for Voltus' programs in the NYISO footprint, including financial modeling and forecasting, asset registration, customer settlements, and ongoing performance optimization.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on the demand response programs you manage. Colleagues from other Voltus departments will rely on you for your deep understanding of market rules and participation requirements and for delegating critical tasks to them, and Voltus will look for you to ensure the ship is pointing in the right direction.
- Contribute to the analytical tools (extensive Excel and / or Python experience preferred) your team uses to support the operational needs of our market activities as well as the customer-facing needs of our Sales and Marketing efforts.
- Actively engage and build relationships with policymakers and utility representatives, including reading & writing regulatory content.
- At minimum, Voltus is looking for candidates with 3-5 years of work experience. At least 1 year of management experience is preferred but not required.
- A background in energy (either work or academic experience) as well as coding is strongly preferred, but not required.
$115,000 - $130,000 a year
Base pay is $115,000 - $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience, with 10-20% bonus paid semi-annually, and equity. In addition to a competitive compensation package, Voltus offers a range of benefits including : unlimited leave for full-time employees, parental leave, and a comprehensive benefits package to promote health, wellness, and financial security.
Please note that at this time, we do not sponsor visas or transfers for new hires. Voltus teammates need to be authorized to work from their home location (in the US or Canada, unless otherwise indicated on the role description). Additionally, while Voltus is an all-remote workplace, we have limitations on where employees are able to work for regulatory and security reasons. We expect that Voltans are working primarily from their home country. Working while traveling to other countries must be approved as per our Global Remote Travel Policy.
At Voltus, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer because we recognize that a diverse organization begins with a diverse candidate pool. This means we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind and are committed to providing equal employment opportunities regardless of your gender identity, race, nationality, religion, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, disability status, or marital status.
