Job description

As an NRG employee, we encourage you to take charge of your career and development journey. We invite you to explore exciting opportunities across our businesses. You’ll find that our dynamic work environment provides variety and challenge. Your growth is key to our ongoing success—take the lead in shaping your career development, goals and future!

About the Role

DFW is a vital growth market, and this role is designed to ensure our philanthropic and community investments align with business goals. We're looking for someone who can identify and execute high-impact community activations to build brand trust (corporate, consumer, generation), deepen relationships with power plant communities, energize employees, and open doors for the sales team, while also implementing tight, metrics-driven programming.

This role blends relationship-building with strategic decision-making. You'll need a clear point of view on how philanthropic investment should be prioritized across our markets, informed by real time spent in community partner meetings, not just in a spreadsheet reviewing KPIs.

What You'll Do

Drive high-impact community strategy in DFW

  • Own and grow company-wide signature programs (e.g., Beat the Heat, Safety Around Water, Back to School, Holidays) within the DFW market — reviewing performance, strengthening execution, and scaling what works for this market.
  • Identify and launch new, high-impact community activations that generate measurable brand and business value, not just goodwill.
  • Align charitable giving and sponsorships with business development priorities, helping turn community investment into client relationships and wins.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with key DFW nonprofits and community organizations, building a network of partners that strengthens the company's local presence and creates a pipeline for future collaboration and business development opportunities.

Build and sustain power plant community relationships

  • Build direct relationships with Plant Managers and designated Plant Employees to understand hyper-local needs and shape relevant, focused partnerships.
  • Deepen understanding of issues affecting plant communities and provide timely support, becoming a trusted resource that plants proactively turn to.
  • Coordinate with Government Affairs to support relationship building with local elected leaders via community investment, and extend the reach of community engagement efforts.

Grow employee engagement across the region

  • Stand up and lead a North Texas Employee Engagement Committee, with visible leadership support.
  • Design recognition moments that celebrate employees who go above and beyond in volunteering, building momentum for future participation.
  • Grow and manage strategic volunteer partnerships (e.g., with Vivint) to expand the employee volunteer base.

Elevate brand visibility and manage community-related risk

  • Partner with Social Media, PR, and Marketing to broaden the reach of community and philanthropic storytelling, especially during major campaigns.
  • Expand visibility of consumer and power plant community/volunteer efforts across digital and social channels.
  • Serve as an early-warning resource on community sentiment or issues that could pose reputational risk, especially near plant sites.

Run the program with operational discipline

  • Build fluency in relevant KPIs and apply them consistently to evaluate program and initiative effectiveness.
  • Conduct post-event reviews after major activations to capture what worked, document lessons learned, and refine procedures.
  • Bring business leaders into the decision-making process on major community investments to secure early alignment and buy-in.
  • Establish playbooks and processes to enable duplication of successful activations at scale.

What Success Looks Like

  • Company-wide programs are consistently reviewed, strengthened, and scaled with measurable impact.
  • Plant Managers and employees treat this role as a go-to resource for community needs.
  • Sales can point to community engagement as a factor in winning or strengthening client relationships.
  • Employee volunteer participation grows and is recognized/celebrated.
  • Community and volunteer stories are consistently amplified through social, PR, and marketing channels.
  • Programs are evaluated with real KPIs, and each major event produces a documented retrospective.
  • Business leaders and Government Affairs are engaged early and often on major community decisions.

Who You Are

  • 4–7 years of experience in corporate philanthropy, community relations, corporate social responsibility, or a closely related field.
  • A relationship-builder who's equally comfortable in a plant conference room, a nonprofit partner meeting, and a leadership readout.
  • Comfortable translating community investment into business language, you can explain the "why it matters to the business," not just "why it matters to the community."
  • Strong project and event management skills; you close the loop with a post-event review, not just a thank-you email.
  • Working knowledge of (or strong appetite to learn) KPI-based program evaluation.
  • Experience or comfort working alongside Sales, Social Media/PR/Marketing, and Government Affairs teams.
  • Based in or willing to be based in the DFW area, with flexibility to travel regularly to plant sites in the region.

Internal Partners You'll Work With

Philanthropy, Power Plants leadership and staff, Sales, Social Media/PR/Marketing, Government Affairs, and Business Unit leadership
