Job Description

  • The Video Software Engineering team is looking for Engineering Managers to grow and develop our engineering talent and build inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • Engineering Managers work closely and collaboratively with teams across Peacock technology to deliver high quality streaming service.
  • Engineering Managers drive technical initiatives in partnership with senior engineers across multiple teams, including testing, resiliency, and performance.
  • Day-to-day collaboration with all Playback Services teams (Live / Linear, VOD, Video Player etc.) for Video KPIs on Peacock application
  • Build dashboards and automation for the NBCUniversal Video Operations team
  • Manage relationships between multiple internal teams
  • Own and create a data lake for end to end video delivery
  • Collaborate with teams building Peacock applications, ensuring optimal integration of the video players

Role Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Engineering / Product / Project Management and Backend Technology Services teams to build highly scalable / reliable video infrastructure, including various configurations, routing policies / tools, and services to manage Video KPIs
  • Develop software solutions based on operations; collaborate and confer with colleagues, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas, following the software development lifecycle
  • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
  • Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming Deliver on product roadmaps, incrementally with a high level of quality
  • Drive technical initiatives in partnership with senior engineers across teams Constantly search for improvements in process, improve software delivery and operational processes
  • Grow the team by attracting diverse talent that can push technical boundaries and where individuals recognize that team success is more important than individual success.
  • Support, coach and develop high performing engineers through regular 1 : 1s, continuous feedback and relationships with others
  • Mentor individuals to embrace diversity and help building an inclusive and flexible workplace
  • Continuous improvement; proactively suggest changes to the process to enhance efficiency as the team evolves
  • Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Ability to integrate into a large agile development project and manage rapid development cycles
  • Hands-on experience with our tech stack; namely Golang, JavaScript, or Angular
  • Expertise in reviewing code alongside developers and engineers with an eye on ensuring consistent and repeatable solutioning
  • Experience in a JIRA / Confluence environment
  • Experience managing headcounts and other organizational leadership tasks
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills; preferably with multiple technology lines-of-business
  • 2+ years of Engineering Management experience, prior software development experience at senior level
  • Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of deadlines, constraints and scope of delivery and experience working with the business partners to ensure the right balance between these are met; setting expectations and handling risks early
