Job Description
Position Summary
The Director of Engineering is responsible for the exterior and interior maintenance of The Little Nell hotel and all areas directly surrounding it. The Director of Engineering provides leadership, planning, organization, and direction for the entire hotel Engineering department. This is an operational manager position which will include some maintenance engineer job duties. This position reports to the Hotel General Manager.
The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $110,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions / Key Job Responsibilities
- Assist and oversee the Engineering Manager with management of the Engineering department and vendor operations
- Assist in Capital Budget planning and department budget planning
- Assist to ensure all labor and expense budgets are followed and anticipate / address potential overages in budget and communicate action taken to the General Manager
- Ensure all compliance standards are met; maintain Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), including Global Harmonized System for chemicals (GHS), regulations
- Makes financial decisions as it relates to the day by day operation
- Responsible for purchasing and inventory
- Ensure all work orders are tracked / completed / prioritized
- Respond to and complete all general maintenance requests as needed, to include all areas inside and outside of the hotel & related properties
- Oversee the property facilities management which includes owner relationships, property walks, budget preparation, all guest requests and room calls
- Address safety hazards and report suspicious persons or activities to management and adhere to all safety standards set by the hotel, city and state ordinances
- Maintain all tools in a clean and orderly condition
- Set up and execute preventative maintenance programs
- Other duties as assigned
