Director of Facilities

Hybrid Denton, TX - Denton, TX

Overview

Position Type Full Time Category Walters Corporate

Description

Are you an experienced facilities leader who thrives on managing complex, multi-site operations and building high-performing teams? Do you have a strong background in hospitality, restaurant, or retail facilities and the ability to oversee everything from preventive maintenance and life-safety compliance to multi-million-dollar budgets and capital projects?

Walters Hospitality is looking for a Director of Facilities to lead the maintenance, compliance, and asset management of our growing portfolio of high-end hospitality venues. This is a senior leadership role that partners closely with executive leadership and Operations to ensure our properties are safe, well-maintained, financially responsible, and consistently meet Walters' brand standards.

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who can balance hands-on operational oversight with financial accountability, vendor management, team development, and long-term facilities planning.

Location Requirement: This is a remote position supporting all Walters Hospitality regions, including DFW, Houston, Hill Country, Atlanta, and Tennessee. Candidates based in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area are preferred. The role requires regular travel to Walters Hospitality venues and locations to work with teams in person as needed.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead Facilities Operations: Oversee facilities operations across a geographically dispersed portfolio of hospitality venues, ensuring properties are maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and appearance.
  • Partner with Operations: Serve as a strategic service partner to Operations by proactively addressing maintenance needs, infrastructure concerns, and facility-related challenges.
  • Own Department Budgets: Maintain full financial accountability for operational expenses (OpEx) and capital expenditures (CapEx), including budgeting, forecasting, project tracking, and reporting.
  • Report to Executive Leadership: Provide regular updates to executive leadership regarding budgets, projects, facility performance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support Board Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive facilities and financial reports to the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with life-safety and facility requirements, including fire panels, extinguishers, hood systems, sprinklers, backflow testing, elevators, and other critical building systems.
  • Protect Brand Standards: Conduct regular property and facilities audits to ensure venues consistently meet Walters' standards for safety, appearance, functionality, and guest experience.
  • Oversee Construction & Acquisitions: Support the transition of new construction and acquired properties into Operations, including punch-list completion, mechanical deficiencies, warranty management, and facilities integration.
  • Build & Develop the Team: Lead, coach, and develop Facilities Managers, Technicians, and administrative support while establishing consistent expectations and processes across markets.
  • Support New Market Growth: Develop cost-effective facilities staffing strategies as Walters expands into new geographic markets, balancing temporary, hybrid, and permanent resources based on property needs.
  • Standardize Training: Establish consistent onboarding and training practices for facilities leadership, including department processes, CMMS systems, service expectations, and financial controls.
  • Manage Vendors & Contractors: Oversee vendor relationships, RFPs, competitive bidding, contracts, service-level agreements, quoting, and invoice approval processes.
  • Leverage Technology: Utilize Corrigo and other facilities technology to manage work orders, track assets, monitor maintenance trends, and measure departmental performance.
  • Lead During Emergencies: Respond effectively to high-pressure facility emergencies, infrastructure failures, and business continuity situations.

Requirements:

  • Mandatory: Previous Director-level experience within the hospitality, restaurant, or retail industry
  • Proven experience overseeing facilities operations across a multi-site, geographically dispersed portfolio
  • Extensive experience managing multi-million-dollar OpEx and CapEx budgets
  • Strong financial, procurement, RFP, and vendor management experience
  • Experience with compliance requirements and internal financial controls; SOX experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present strategic plans, capital forecasts, and facilities reports to executive leadership and/or a Board of Directors
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial building systems, including MEP, HVAC, commercial refrigeration and kitchen systems, roofing, irrigation, and life-safety systems
  • Experience implementing or managing an enterprise CMMS platform; Corrigo experience preferred
  • Strong experience negotiating vendor contracts, SLAs, and competitive bids
  • Proven ability to lead teams across multiple locations and develop effective facilities processes
  • Strong crisis management and business continuity planning experience
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and leadership skills
  • Remote position with a strong preference for candidates located in Texas
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the Walters Hospitality portfolio as needed
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States; Walters Hospitality participates in E-Verify

  • Full-time, remote position
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Travel required as needed across the Walters Hospitality portfolio
