At Tribal 1 Construction, we are committed to delivering high-quality construction services while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Our work is rooted in meaningful community impact, including strong support for veterans and active engagement in industry and government partnerships. We believe in developing the next generation of construction professionals through hands-on learning and real-world experience.
Position Overview
Tribal 1 Construction is seeking a motivated and curious Construction Intern interested in gaining full life-cycle exposure to construction projects-from preconstruction through project closeout. This role is designed for students or recent graduates who want to understand how a construction company operates holistically.
As an intern, you will rotate through different functions of the organization, working alongside estimators, project managers, superintendents, and field crews. You may also spend time in the field performing light labor and jobsite support to gain a practical understanding of construction operations, safety, and execution. This experience is intended to provide a well-rounded foundation for a future career in construction.
Key Responsibilities
Preconstruction & Estimating Exposure
- Assist the estimating team with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and document review
- Learn how to evaluate plans, specifications, and scopes of work
- Support cost analysis and subcontractor coordination
Project Management Support
- Assist project managers with scheduling, submittals, RFIs, change management, and document control
- Help track project progress, budgets, and milestones
- Participate in project meetings and coordination efforts
Field & Jobsite Experience
- Support superintendents and field teams with daily jobsite activities
- Perform light labor or hands-on tasks, as appropriate, to better understand means and methods
- Observe and assist with quality control, safety practices, and trade coordination
Safety & Compliance
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and audits
- Help ensure jobsite compliance with company and OSHA safety standards
Collaboration & Learning
- Work cross-functionally with multiple departments to understand the full construction lifecycle
- Contribute ideas, ask questions, and actively engage in problem-solving discussions
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a construction management, engineering, or related program
- Strong interest in learning how construction projects are delivered from start to finish
- Willingness to work both in an office environment and on active jobsites
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and a proactive, accountable approach
- Basic understanding of construction concepts is preferred but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and adapt to changing priorities
What We Offer
- Comprehensive, full-cycle exposure to the construction process
- Hands-on experience in estimating, project management, and field operations
- Mentorship from experienced construction professionals
- Opportunities to build strong industry and government-sector relationships
- Valuable career development and potential future employment opportunities with Tribal 1 Construction
