A Day in the Life
Medtronic is seeking a Senior Program Manager – Global Lab Strategist to serve a transformational role in developing labs of the future for Medtronic. This role sits at the intersection of daily lab operations, facility specialization, and enterprise transformation, serving as a strategic partner to Medtronic’s senior leadership in enabling scalable, efficient, and compliant laboratory capabilities worldwide.In this high-impact role. You will evolve and execute on a global vision for Medtronic’s laboratory operations, enabling standardized processes, shared services, automated and optimized infrastructure that supports R&D innovation and strengthens enterprise growth. This key strategic role will work closely with individuals spanning the organization, from single lab owners to Medtronic’s operating unit VPs. This role requires a leader who is forward-thinking, a self-starter, and can drive change across a complex organizational landscape. This person will support the development of standards and best practices, deploy governance, ignite change, and use expertise to build a lab program that is future-focused, sustainable, and aligned with concepts pertaining to the labs of the future for continuous evolution.

Collaborate and execute a global strategy
Identify and drive synergies between lab types, infrastructure, and uses, across sites, regions and cultures
Partner with cross-functional leaders in R&D, Engineering, Quality, Compliance, Finance, and Facilities to ensure alignment with scientific priorities, regulatory requirements, and business goals
Provide strong financial capabilities aligned with performing robust costs analyses, capital investment allocations, cost v. benefits scenario planning
Exemplify a strong aptitude for strategic planning, and project management to ensure smooth transitions, the achievement of KPIs, and ultimately a successful and evolving platform for Medtronic’s R&D organization
Foster a culture of innovation and change, as well as one that embraces adaptation
Demonstrate proven leadership capabilities including effective communication, project planning, facilitation and multi-directional management tactics
Prioritize adaptation and evolution to drive outcomes regardless of unanticipated delays, actors, etc.
Read, assess and incorporate technical advancements and pull them into the fold of labs of the future and associated management to ensure continued evolution and the prioritization of R&D development
Standardize processes, project planning, and delivery to maximize operational efficiency, scalability, and enable best-in-class outputs
Implement data-driven monitoring, performance metrics, and reporting to provide visibility into lab operations, utilization, and continuous improvement opportunities
Influence and guide executive-level decisions through concise, actionable reporting, presentations, and insights on delivery, operations, risk and return on investment
Must Haves
Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience leading laboratory operations, program management, strategic initiatives, project management, or change and process management OR advanced degree and 5+ years of experience
Nice to Have
Advanced degree (MS, MBA, or equivalent) in a technical or management field
Progressive experience leading operations, strategy, and roadmaps for a collection of labs, facilities, sites or regions with a large, multinational corporation
Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional projects and programs across multiple sites or regions
Strong intrapersonal and communication skills both verbally and written, including effective use of meetings (in-person and remote), and the ability to use data to support decision making
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
The ability to translate technical and operational information into executive-level insights
Experience with process improvement methodologies, continuous improvement, and global operational standardization
Strong business acumen, including ability to balance scientific needs, operational efficiency, and strategic enterprise objectives
Ability to travel up to 25%
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
