The Engineering Project Manager leads cross-functional teams to deliver complex engineering projects, often spanning multiple product lines. This remote role focuses on planning, executing, and directing engineering initiatives, managing project scope, schedule, and costs while ensuring high-quality technical outcomes. The position requires strong leadership, independent judgment, and the ability to solve complex engineering challenges across multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Independently plan, execute, and direct cross-functional engineering projects that may cross traditional product lines, ensuring alignment with overall business and product objectives.
- Lead and supervise cross-functional project teams of approximately 810 people, providing clear direction, coaching, and accountability for deliverables.
- Develop project schedules, define milestones, and manage timelines, using tools such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project to track progress and hold team members accountable for completing tasks.
- Manage all financial aspects of product development projects, including project costs, capital expenditures, and cross-functional expenses, and ensure adherence to budget targets.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve complex engineering problems, including designing and executing new experiments and approaches without direct supervision.
- Apply independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, methodologies, and standards to meet project requirements.
- Collaborate effectively within a matrix management environment, coordinating with stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, and other functional areas.
- Ensure thorough, up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines is applied across projects, particularly within cardiology-related products and portfolios.
- Perform additional engineering and project management duties as assigned to support successful project delivery and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience independently leading cross-functional engineering projects, preferably within medical device or manufacturing environments.
- 35 years of engineering project management experience, with the ability to handle complex assignments and multiple product lines.
- 25 years of experience working in a matrix management environment, including direct supervision of cross-functional team members.
- Strong mechanical engineering background and familiarity with engineering principles used in product development.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and adapting engineering techniques and solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information and project expectations to diverse stakeholders.
- Thorough, up-to-date knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines relevant to product development and cardiology-related portfolios.
- Proficiency using project management and productivity tools such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project to plan, track, and report on project activities.
- Ability to design and conduct new experiments and approaches to solve complex engineering problems without direct supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience overseeing teams of approximately 810 people in an engineering project setting.
- Background in medical devices or manufacturing, particularly in environments with regulated products and complex engineering requirements.
- Comfort working across more than one product within a portfolio, ideally within cardiology or related product areas.
- Ability to balance technical depth with strong organizational and planning skills, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Capability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional, and matrixed organization.
- Openness to a project-based role that is unlikely to extend beyond the end of the year, with a focus on delivering clear outcomes within a defined timeframe.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, establish schedules, and hold team members accountable for achieving their tasks and milestones.
- Candidates with 35 years of experience are preferred; the role is not targeted toward individuals who are significantly overqualified.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
