We are tasked with staffing The William Beaumont Army Medical Center and associated Branch Clinics with Clinical Psychologists. The Clinical Psychologists are expected to perform the following

  • Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
  • Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
  • Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
  • Assist in rehabilitation of patients.
  • Makes behavioral health diagnoses as appropriate in accordance with Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) criteria, or other, more current, accepted standards.
  • Provides individual and group therapy, using various evidence based / informed modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and client-centered therapy for children, adolescents, and family members.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation of patient care in accordance with current unit and hospital SOPs; current DoD, Army, Federal and state regulations; and professional ethics.
  • Maintains performance and conduct in accordance with current unit and hospital SOPs; current DoD, DA, Federal and state regulations; and professional ethics.
  • Assesses and provides crisis intervention for children, adolescents, and family members undergoing unusual psychologically related stresses.
  • Provides individual, couple, family, and / or group psychological counseling utilizing a variety of treatment modalities for child, adolescent, and / or family psychological diagnoses.
  • Provides psychological and clinical consultation to other professionals and paraprofessionals through established consultation channels.
  • Screens and interviews children, adolescents, and family members, and utilizes psychometric instruments in the assessment of psychological disorders typically affecting children and adolescents; performs biopsychosocial evaluations, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling; independently selects, administers, scores, and interprets psychological tests for the purpose of assessing patient’s cognitive, behavioral, educational, and emotional functioning; expert knowledge of the full range of psychological testing; expert knowledge of development, psychopathology, and therapeutic techniques; ability to analyze clinical assessments of patients; skill in written communication; and skill in oral communication.
  • Conducts therapy; monitors, approves, and documents all treatment planning; provides advice for case staffing, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling of children, adolescents, and family members; expert knowledge of the full range of psychological testing; expert knowledge of development, psychopathology, and therapeutic techniques for children and adolescents; ability to analyze clinical assessments of patients; skill in written communication; and skill in oral communication. Reviews and approves the appropriate treatment modality of each patient.
  • Oversees and interprets appropriate tests, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to the psychological functioning of children, adolescents, and family members; expert knowledge of the full range of psychological testing; knowledge of development, psychopathology, and therapeutic techniques; ability to analyze patient assessments; skill in written communication; and skill in oral communication.
  • Monitors, maintains, and secures test instrument inventory. Approves selection of various tests. Interprets various complex tests. Provides consultation regarding testing and interpreting issues. Evaluates test results for release. Evaluates diagnostic summaries.
  • Conducts high level of professional test analyses and interpretation. Synthesizes assessment and evaluation results into meaningful written reports.
  • Provides expert professional consultation to primary care providers and other professional staff regarding the psychological functioning of children, adolescents, and families.
  • Provides expert consultation on evidence based psychosocial practices for children and adolescents, to include complex clinical presentations requiring integrated, collaborative care. Synthesizes and interprets complex clinical presentations and data.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Degree / Education : Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD). Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Additional training required for psychology specialties
  • Internship / Residency : Successful completion from an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
  • Experience : Providers seeking clinical privileges through a DHA facility must have evidence of current clinical practice and must have actively practiced in their discipline within the past 2 years prior to contract execution. CP must have received training to work with children including working with adolescents age groups. Must have training either during their internship or as a licensed provider they have gained experience through working with (child and adolescent) population.
