  • Teach a well-rounded curriculum, including reading comprehension, literature analysis, writing skills, grammar, vocabulary, and public speaking.
  • Utilize various instructional strategies, such as Socratic discussions, creative writing exercises, and project-based learning, to enhance student engagement.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication in students.

Classroom & Student Management

  • Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Set clear expectations for behavior and academic performance, ensuring students remain engaged and accountable.
  • Address classroom challenges proactively and consistently, fostering a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Provide regular assessments and constructive, timely feedback to help students improve their writing and analytical skills.
  • Student Engagement & Communication

  • Cultivate a love for literature and language by introducing students to diverse authors, genres, and writing styles.
  • Build strong relationships with students, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, providing student progress and development updates.
  • Act as a mentor and role model, reinforcing Christian values and the school’s faith-based mission.
  • Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Work closely with faculty, staff, and administration to align curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and professional development opportunities.
  • Stay current with best practices in English instruction, literacy development, and classroom management.
  • School & Community Involvement

  • Contribute to school-wide activities, assemblies, and events, enhancing the educational experience beyond the classroom.
  • Promote a culture of Christian values, Armenian heritage, and academic excellence.
  • Uphold and model the school’s mission, values, and policies.
  • Qualifications & Requirements

    Educational Background & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Literature, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid teaching credential or certification is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of English grammar, composition, and literature.
  • Instructional & Classroom Management Skills

  • Proven ability to create engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans tailored to student needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills, maintaining a disciplined yet nurturing learning environment.
  • Ability to inspire and challenge students, fostering a love for reading and writing.
  • Communication & Collaboration

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A collaborative team player who is adaptable and eager to grow professionally.
  • Faith & Mission Alignment

  • Commitment to upholding the Christian values and mission of Merdinian School.
  • Familiarity with Armenian heritage and culture is a plus, but not required
