Key Responsibilities

The Founding English Teacher will be responsible for delivering the advanced and rigorous BASIS English Language Arts curriculum to middle and / or high school students. Specific duties include :

Curriculum Delivery : Teach English Language Arts courses which may include Literature Composition and AP English utilizing an engaging content-rich approach.

Student Engagement : Foster a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking strong communication skills and a deep appreciation for reading and writing.

Assessment and Feedback : Develop and administer robust assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely constructive feedback to students and parents.

Founding Team Collaboration : Play a pivotal role in establishing the schools culture contributing to school-wide initiatives and collaborating with fellow founding teachers to create a cohesive and supportive academic community.

Professional Development : Actively participate in professional learning opportunities and school-wide meetings continually seeking to improve instructional practices.

Student Support : Serve as an advisor or mentor guiding students in their academic and personal growth within the BASIS model.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major or significant coursework in English Literature or a related field. A Masters degree is highly desirable.

Prior teaching experience in English Language Arts at the middle and / or high school level is strongly preferred. Experience teaching advanced placement (AP) or honors-level courses is a significant asset.

A profound passion for the subject matter and an ability to convey complex concepts in a clear compelling and engaging manner.

Exceptional classroom management skills and an ability to create an organized highly focused and positive learning environment.

Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.

A collaborative spirit and a commitment to working as part of a dynamic founding team.
