Job description

Enterprise Architect

Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first. The Enterprise Architect is responsible for integrating hardware, software, and network components to create cohesive systems. This role involves recommending solutions that will advance the organization's technical infrastructure. The position also includes mentoring and providing enterprise level guidance to technical and architectural teams within the organization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement integrated systems that align with organizational goals. Evaluate and recommend technical products that enhance Humana's technical solutions. Provide guidance to technical and architectural staff. Understand and align with departmental, segment, and organizational strategies and objectives, recognizing their interconnections with related areas. Make informed decisions regarding work methodologies, especially in ambiguous situations, while seeking direction and guidance when necessary. Adhere to established guidelines and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.

Advocate for our agile development approach and our North Star architectural goals. Engage in enterprise technology modernization initiatives, collaborating with application teams and IT stakeholders to deliver value through effective design and implementation. Optimize resources and costs by implementing solutions that leverage EA standard design patterns. Collaboratively map business vision and strategy to value streams, business capabilities, and functions. Work with segment and domain architects, engineers, and leadership to document current and future state architectures, value streams, and domain capability models. Rationalize digital assets to enhance maintainability and innovation while reducing risk, complexity, and operational costs. Lead application modernization initiatives, including the re-architecting of legacy mainframe, standalone, and web-based applications to align with value-driven enterprise architecture standards. Foster innovation and evolution of cloud-based services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) in collaboration with segment teams and Enterprise Shared Services. Maintain best practices, standards, and policies, and update them based on the latest industry trends, ensuring they are communicated effectively through user-friendly documentation. Develop Cost Models / Dashboards for applications based on resource utilization and licensing costs, assisting application teams in determining Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and planning for future needs. Evaluate new technologies and platforms for continuous improvement of digital assets, developing architectural standards to leverage them. Select and effectively utilize appropriate cloud services, technologies, tools, methodologies, and solutions to ensure robust architectures that align with the organization's strategy and long-term goals. Serve as a consultant to application teams, guiding them in creating enterprise-grade applications that adhere to governance standards (e.g. data use, cybersecurity, observability, residency, etc.). Conduct various co-development Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) with applications and technical capabilities to ensure alignment with architectural principles, resulting in reusable reference implementations.
