Job descriptionIdentifying and interviewing individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws. Preventing and apprehending undocumented individuals and smugglers through strategic surveillance and tactical operations. Interpreting physical evidence relating to illegal entries and smuggling activities. Conducting patrols and inspecting transportation and vehicles. Utilizing various government resources for operational duties along international borders. One year of general work experience exhibiting strong decision-making skills in high-stress situations; or A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; or A combination of relevant experience and education. One year of specialized work experience in law enforcement, demonstrating skills in information analysis and critical decision-making under pressure; or A bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or one year of graduate-level education in a relevant field. U.S. Citizenship is required. Must have resided in the U.S. for at least three out of the last five years. Applicants must be under 40 years of age at the time of selection. Must complete ongoing training, including attendance at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy.

Newly appointed officers can expect an annual base salary ranging from $49,739 to $89,518, depending on experience and assigned duties. Once fully trained, you may be eligible for an additional 25% of your base salary under the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014.
