SUMMARY
Internship centered on the education and training involving the packaging industry and design process. Responsibilities will include creating structural and graphic packaging, managing CAD specs, and basic manipulation of Adobe art files. Assist in the overall growth of the Pratt Lincoln Converting location and Design department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Discuss packaging projects with Customer, Customer Service, Sales, or Design Manager and be able to execute design ideas within ArtiosCAD 2D / 3D and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Manage design files and specifications within ESKO Webcenter project management database.
- Education / Training in routing / tooling layout with Design Manager and / or Plant Manager.
- Education / Training in structure, graphic, and ink color approvals throughout quote / order process.
- Education / Training on equipment capabilities and limitations through active involvement with production.
- Participate in daily production meetings, verifying specs / print cards / fab cards throughout the new order process.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety procedures, ISO operating procedures and quality standards.
- Maintain good housekeeping throughout the Pratt-Lincoln facility.
- Participate in ongoing training activities (individual and group) both in person and online through Pratt University.
- Occasionally travel to customer facilities to provide design / technical support.
- Must continually be actively engaged in the growth, development, and process efficiencies within Pratt - Lincoln.
- Additional duties may be assigned by Design Manager as the company and position develop.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High School College coursework in the field of computers, CAD, graphics, and drafting, or applicable work / industry experience is desired. Knowledge of ArtiosCAD, Adobe graphics, or similar tools is a plus.
Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office programs. Excellent communicator with customers, suppliers, sales (external), as well as customer service, production, accounting, and management (internal).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math, including decimal and fraction equivalents, in both metric and imperial units.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more variables and deliver logical, formulated solutions.

The employee will frequently lift and move corrugated sheets and tooling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and tooling within a loud environment. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, inks, and chemicals.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
The performance of the employee will be measured as follows :
Operating standards - the employee will need to meet or exceed the performance standards established by the Design Manager, including design creativity, quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity. These standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee through Pratt's annual performance evaluation.
Personal growth - while the company will provide the tools to assist the employee to grow professionally, the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual. Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the employee and the Design Manager, including being 100% responsible and actively engaged in personal and professional development.
Employee relations - the employee will be evaluated regarding his / her behaviors associated with appropriate human interaction, respect and communication. Relations with both internal (Management / Customer Service / Production / Accounting) and external (Customers / Sales / Suppliers) parties will be evaluated.
Creativity - this will be evaluated by how active the employee is in participating in advancing Pratt Lincoln through new and innovative ideas, both through design and production processes.
