Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Manager I, the IT Associate will serve as a key member of the Information Technology Services Division. The position's duties and activities are performed primarily within the Systems Administration technical domains. Provides support of Enterprise Infrastructure services to support lines of business enabling technology services to the California Public Utilities Commission.The position performs critical technical services in support of the CPUC programs, strategic goals, and business objectives. Incumbent must adhere to all Departmental Information Technology Policies and Standards as set by the Department's Chief Information Officer.

Working Conditions

This is a statewide recruitment. This position can be filled in the following locations : Sacramento, San Francisco or Los Angeles. All identified locations will be considered as one candidate pool to fill one position.

This position requires travel.

Positions at the CPUC may be eligible for telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, and subject to meeting the telework eligibility criteria. Telework Policy CalHR

    Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate :

  • Experience Server Monitoring (Virtual and Physical), remote data center (Colo) or other remote sites to ensure all the servers are functioning properly and services are available.
  • Experience assisting with provisioning Servers and Storage (Virtual and Physical) as needed.
  • Experience or knowledge of IT Service Management tools.
  • Worked in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of tasks.
  • Experience with Enterprise file storage technologies for collaboration and sharing.
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware issue for the servers / storage.
