Job description

JOB TITLE : Senior Interior Designer

CLASSIFICATION : Exempt

Salary Range : $70,000-$90,000

JOB FUNCTION

Responsible for producing high-quality project design deliverables in construction documents while managing projects through all phases. Advocates for the Company's vision, style, aesthetic, and standards in residential design and collaborates with the design team to produce designs that are ahead of the curve. Leads and manages all phases of development including : Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration, while overseeing project schedules, budgets, and client communication. Reports to the Design Manager and work directly with them to ensure successful project delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Determines project priorities with the Design Manager.
  • Manages and monitors project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Delegates tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Verifies plan accuracy, performs redline markups, and reviews delegated work packages.
  • Develops vignettes, hand sketches, and Revit-based models (2D / 3D) to convey design concepts.
  • Clearly articulates design concepts using logical reasoning and sound design principles.
  • Oversees design documentation, specification writing, RFIs, and construction administration.
  • Coordinates directly with consultants, contractors, and vendors to align with project goals.
  • Maintains regular communication with field coordinators and construction managers to ensure quality control and adherence to schedules.
  • Ensures assigned tasks meet company standards while maintaining an high billable efficiency rate.
  • Leads vendor coordination, product research, and specification reviews.
  • Regularly reports project status to leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises supporting designers and design assistants guided by Design Manager.
  • Provides guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to design team members.
  • Accepts accountability for team deliverables, addressing challenges and obstacles as needed.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-10 years of professional interior design experience
  • Strong project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, consultant coordination, and construction administration.
  • Strong client presentation experience
  • Practical construction knowledge with ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural plans.
  • Expertise in Revit (2D and 3D modeling required); proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • o Knowledge of ArchiCad is a plus but not required.

  • Experience with BlueBeam, redlining design documents as needed.
  • Strong focus on kitchens, bathrooms, key living spaces, custom installations, and architectural interior detailing.
  • Knowledge of finishes, materials, and residential construction systems (tile, plumbing, millwork, etc.)
  • Experience in material take-offs
  • Experience in managing client relationships and communication throughout all design phases.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
  • Commitment to excellence, innovation, and high standards.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and complete detailed reports accurately.
  • Interpret codes, architectural drawings, and manufacturer installation manuals.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Open Office / Studio environment
  • Regular tours of outdoor construction sites.
