The Center for Advanced Hindsight (CAH) is Dr. Dan Ariely’s behavioral economics lab at Duke University. Currently, the center manages $6 million in grants, working with researchers, postdoctoral students, interns, undergraduate students, volunteers, and staff at the Duke campus location and from all over the world. At CAH, researchers study the decision-making process in the hopes of helping people lead better, more sensible daily lives. The center has served as an incubator for nine start-up companies, partners with 30 organizations through the Common Cents Lab, and is supported by numerous sponsors.
Occupational Summary
Research Analyst II is a mid-level behavioral science researcher at the Center for Advanced Hindsight. They may hold advanced degrees and / or have three or more years of experience in the field of behavioral science. They operate with some oversight, provide mentorship to more junior staff, and are responsible for carrying out smaller projects independently. This contract position is grant-funded for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on funding availability and other factors.
Work Performed
Independently lead research studies – 35%
- Conduct literature reviews to identify gaps, generate new hypotheses, and inform existing streams of research
- Contribute to hypothesis generation for field and lab studies and contribute to study designs
- Ensure all studies are fielded with fidelity
- Sometimes responsible for conducting data analysis, drawing conclusions from study results, and determining next steps, with supervision from Research Scholars or Project Managers
- Occasionally responsible for drafting manuscripts for academic publication and popular press
- Write IRB applications
Provide support to research studies – 35%
Manage relationships with partners and sponsors – 15%
Provide project management – 15%

Anticipated Pay Range :
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $58,656.00 to USD $94,617.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education / training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a social science or related field . A Master's degree is strongly preferred.
Experience
4 years of experience in research / data analysis. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
